Nocturne Records
Nocturne Records was an American jazz label founded in 1954 by Roy S. Harte, a drummer, and Harry Babasin, a jazz bassist. The company, based in Hollywood, California, was short-lived but focused on West Coast jazz. On March 28, 1955, Nocturne merged with Liberty Records and henceforth issued the Nocturne catalog under the Liberty label, as the "Jazz in Hollywood" series. Babasin, president of Nocturne, stayed on to supervise the repertoire function of the line.〔''Liberty Merger with Nocturne,'' Billboard Magazine, June 4, 1955, pg. 18 (last column)〕
Roy Harte had also co-founded Pacific Jazz Records in 1952.
